What Does It Mean?

Simple.  POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone Service and has been available since the introduction of the public telephone system in the late 1800’s.   It is considered a normal phone line like that is delivered on a pair of copper wires.  POTS is the analog voice-grade telephone service that remains the basic form of residential and small business service connection to the telephone network in many parts of the world.  Many of our own customers use these types of lines for alarms, elevators or security systems. Mostly, it has been unchanged despite the introduction of touch-tone dialing, mobile phones, electronic telephone exchanges, ISDN, VoIP and fiber-optic communication into the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

T1 Service

Digital Channelized Service (DCS) offers Digital Trunks provided via a T1 facility with 24 channels (DID, 2-way, or a combination of both), featuring the ability to transmit voice or data services over these channels. A T1 may be a Digital T1, a PRI T1, or an Integrated T1. T1 service is delivered to your office through what’s called a “smart jack’, usually located in your phone closet or possibly in the phone closet located on your floor. Almost all of our providers are now transporting T1 traffic over fiber optic lines.

Benefits Include:

  • Elimination of busy signals and “all circuits are busy” messages by providing an open, robust connection.
  • Maximizing transaction processing and customer-service efforts by efficiently managing a large number of inbound and outbound calls.
  • Raising productivity by giving employees constant access to an open line.
  • Growing as your demands grow; it’s easy to add T1 circuits as you need them.
  • This makes T1s a great option for redundancy for backup or disaster recovery in the event of a failure.

Long Distance 101

Long distance is billed in increments of minutes, sometimes as small as 1 second. Fact: the difference between 1 minute increments and 6 second increments can amount to as much as 20% of your long distance cost. A company with many short duration calls, like short messages, or frequent hang ups, needs to have TrueChoice Telecom review their usage and cost structure. Our deep-dive billing analysis has found ways to reduce long distance costs for 88% of the accounts we review.

Every Country Has A Different Rate

The national phone carrier for each country charges other phone providers to bring calls in; they call this call termination, and it’s a huge source of revenue for many countries. For larger enterprises, there may be ways to circumvent this and TrueChoice can advise you as to the best way to handle this type of situation. Even with differing rates for many of our 65 providers, we’ll find the best long distance service to suit your needs and make sure you have the most competitive rates for international calls.

Because there are so many different routes providers use to put your calls through, it is crucial that you select a provider for reliability as well as cost effective routes. Lowest cost routing can be used to automatically reduce costs. VoIP systems can also be deployed to put a local number in an international location for free extension-to-extension dialing, even if you’re calling from the U.S. to any location around the world, as long as it has a reliable internet access.

Whether you’re making frequent calls to Europe or Ecuador, Taiwan or Tientsin, let TrueChoice Telecom take you through the labyrinth of providers and plans to provide precisely the right solution for your business.

Never Miss A Call

Remote Call Forwarding (RCF) allows calls coming to a number that is identified as the forwarding number to be automatically forwarded to any location designated by the call receiver. You can even have a forwarding telephone number in a central switching office without having any other local telephone service in that office.

One of the benefits for our clients is the ability to advertise local numbers in multiple markets, giving the impression of a local presence. Calls to that local number are free to the caller while the cost for the RCF is usually a flat rate.

By having an RCF, callers can avoid having to dial long distance and therefore avoid increased costs for the call. It also allows the customer to continue to use and existing number in the event a facility is moved or closed.

RCFs typically come with only one call path, but additional call paths can be added. Each path can handle one call at a time, i.e., two paths allow two people to call the number and be forwarded at the same time. It is also possible to buy VoIP call paths which is a different way to accomplish the same thing.

If your organization relies on a Call Center for technical support, inbound direct response campaigns, billing issue management, or anything else, it’s helpful to work with a company with multiple providers specializing in Call Center solutions.

From SIP Trunking, long distance dedicated circuits, exact long distance billing, in-state rates, flat rate unlimited long distance, and more, TrueChoice providers will find the options that add redundancy and save you money, time and aggravation.

If you rely on a small Call Center, we can still help you gain access to a wide array of contact center tools once available only to larger companies. We work with hosted, on demand, multi-channel contact center services that let you provide better service to more customers without increasing costs.

Today, many large campuses and corporate environments are unable to identify specific location information to emergency agencies when a caller dials 9-1-1. Because the 9-1-1 database usually displays the main address of the switching system, emergency crews may be directed to an address other than where the call originated. If the possibility of potential crisis is serious in single-location organizations, it’s compounded in multi-location buildings. The solution: Private Switch / Automatic Location Identification from an experienced and reliable TrueChoice provider.

Foreign Exchange (FX) is designed to complement local service offerings. It provides customers with local telephone numbers from an exchange (rate center) other than the exchange in which the physical location is situated. With FX, multiple rate centers are being served from the same switching platform and can be used to:

  • Maintain a local presence in a nearby city or town
  • Increase accessibility to existing and prospective customers
  • Explore new markets before starting, relocating or expanding a business
  • Help cut costs by reducing local telephone service and long distance expenses

The demand for Foreign Exchange Service is caused because the foreign exchange rate center has a different local calling area than the home rate center to which a customer would have traditionally been assigned. Expand your virtual presence all over the world for a minimal investment with a TrueChoice FX provider.

All Directory Assistance and Operator Services can provide live operator and auto-attendant assistance with placing calls or with obtaining directory assistance information. Local Services customers automatically receive access to Directory Assistance and Operator Services.

TrueChoice works with providers that offer multi-modal, mass notification services that allow businesses and large enterprises to communicate to employees, or other key audiences, wherever they may be.  This is especially useful in urgent situations or for companies who rely frequently on real-time communications.

Companies availing themselves of mass notification can send an unlimited number of messages to staff, suppliers, volunteers, or customers (or any combination of these groups) via voice, text, or email.  The messages may be sent to mobile phones, web-enabled PDAs, landlines, email addresses, and TTY/TDD devices using either a telephone only or a telephone and computer connected to the Internet.  They can be sent immediately or scheduled for delivery at a later time.

E-rate is a program funded by the Universal Service Fund to subsidize schools, hospitals and libraries across the United States to find affordable telecommunications and internet services.  The percentage of telecommunications that the e-rate program funds is based on the school and/or library’s economic and geographic status.  E-rate pays between 20% to 90% of the total costs of telecommunications for T1, PRI, fiber and ethernet services.

TrueChoice Telecom has access to multiple telecommunications carriers who participate in the e-rate program throughout the nation.  This allows us to leverage one carrier against another and, in turn, allows your school, hospital or library to get the most from your e-rate funding.  As with our commercial customers, we will always provide multiple proposals and non-biased opinions on the carriers who service your area; and this expertise is always free of charge as we are compensated by the carrier.  We have worked with several e-rate participants in the past, and have succeeded in helping them double and triple their Internet bandwidth from the prior year, even on very limited budgets.

TrueChoice Telecom is eager to help your school, hospital or library maximize your e-rate funding budget.
